A fantastic indigo dyed bifold wallet made with luxurious Sugihara washi paper, a handmade paper that boasts a 1300-year tradition.

A super rare long wallet sold at a department store is on sale for 33,000 yen, so the list price of this one goes without saying...

Kyoto traditional craftsman "Hisato Fukumoto" was the first in the world to invent a technique of applying gold and silver foil to natural washi paper and dyeing it with natural indigo, and released it to the industry as Nishijin fabric, one of Kyoto's traditional crafts, using silk thread and high-quality cowhide.

The piece has a beautiful gradation that strikes the heart, and like a fingerprint, the same pattern will never be repeated, making it a one-of-a-kind item.

The image does not convey it well, but the gold and silver foil gives it an elegant yet sparkling luster that gives it a strong presence.

A wonderful item filled with the strong feelings of the craftsman. This is my personal opinion, but I feel that it is a truly impressive finish compared to the many things I have seen so far.

Made of very high quality cowhide. The washi paper has been specially processed so it is water resistant and has the necessary strength.
